Why is The Normanby Hotel such a popular place for a corporate function?
People love the 80 car free parking and ease of access of The Normanby. It’s close to the city but far enough away to be out of the congestion and downtown traffic. Easy to get to, easy to get out of. We also have this down-to-earth atmosphere that puts people in a good mood right away. It’s not stuffy like a hotel function room. After all, we’re a pub but have some great spaces for company functions and business events. And who doesn’t like modern, pub food!
And for the host, it’s a popular venue because we make it easy to plan and work within the budget. None of our spaces have a room hire, allowing more to be spent on having a good time! We do have minimum spends so you get something for your money rather than a cost just for the room.
Which rooms at The Normanby are best for a work function?
It depends on the size of your function. We can accommodate large scale events in The Public Bar and The Lounge Bar. Just right for a networking event or end of year work party. Our smaller, more private rooms such as the Valentine Room, are great for leadership strategy days or the Nicholson for a sit down board meeting. And many of our spaces have adjacent outdoor yet sheltered areas to set up break out sessions or for attendees to step outside for a breathe of fresh air.
Here are details on some of our spaces ideal for your company event or work party:
- The Lounge Bar accommodates 120 guests comfortably (standing room), which is ideal for end of year celebrations or business presentations (AV equipment is available for use)
- The Valentine Room (50 guests) for a medium-sized work gatherings like a team building exercise or sales incentive presentation
- For a casual, outdoor event, we have the Cabana Deck (80 guests), great for celebrating a company milestone or a team success

What food options do you have for corporate events?
We have a wide variety of selections depending on your business event type. For a larger, cocktail-style work event, we have many platter options to suit individual tastes. Some of our favourites are: Mini pies, cheeseburger brioche sliders, carnivora or the peri peri chicken pizza slabs, pulled pork big bao buns, lamb cutlets and our vegetarian arancini balls.
Or if you’re holding a sit down board or leadership meeting, we have either the alternate drop menu or the feasting menu. We’re famous for our grilled meats so we have a 150g rib eye-fillet on the alternate drop menu or try the bone-in tomahawk on our feasting menu. Or if beef isn’t your thing, our chef does a beautiful pan-roasted chicken breast with a red wine jus on both menus.

Do you have gf and vegetarian options?
Yes, we always include gf and vegetarian options. On our platter menu we have these vegetarian options – arancini balls, spring rolls, samosas, zucca pizza and of course, bread & dips.
For gluten-free we can do a gf pizza base too. Let us know if you have other dietary requirements you need us to accommodate.
If you’re holding a seated function and are selecting either the alternate drop or feasting menu, we’ll happily figure out a menu that suits your dietary needs.
How much food should I order?
Each platter feeds 6-8 people with 2-3 pieces each.
Which drinks package would be suitable for a company or corporate event?
It’s going to depend on the work event you are holding. No matter what it is, we can accommodate you with one of the many beverage package options we offer. Choose from: a fixed limit and/or fixed product bar tab; all inclusive drinks package; drink tickets; or, a pay as you go bar. And for a dinner or lunch event such as a board or leadership meeting, we have a huge selection of wines to pair with our alternate drop menu or feasting menu.
What AV equipment do you provide?
We have the most common AV equipment needed for a business event, allowing you to conduct business presentations, run slideshows, play audio, host video calls and screen movies. WiFi, large screen TVs, portable TVs, wireless microphones, AV system for speeches. Just let us know what you need and we’ll set it up and show you how to use it. Or, if you’d like to use your own equipment, we’ll do all we can to make it happen.
Do you have parking?
Yes we have complimentary parking for about 80 cars on site. It’s right next door to the hotel. For directions, the address for parking is 18 Kelvin Grove Rd, Kelvin Grove.

When should I book?
We do a lot of functions at The Normanby so book as early as you can. If it’s an end of year event, like a work Christmas party, definitely book early, like 4 months out, to secure your date. People love holding their Christmas parties with us because we’re such a down-to-earth, friendly place to be!
